Hikers will enjoy exploring the network of hiking trails, spanning 17 miles. Equestrians are also welcome to bring their horses to Cow Mountain and amble around the trails. Mountain biking is another fun and challenging activity popular with visitors to Cow Mountain Recreation Area.
Cow Mountain Flora & Fauna.
Perfect for mountain goats or even the cattle that dominated the area at one time, the rugged terrain of Cow Mountain is at once beautiful and challenging. With an elevation that ranges from 800 to 4,000 feet above sea level, those who climb its slopes will be rewarded with views of Ukiah as well as Clear Lake. The wildlife that roams Cow Mountain includes wild turkey, bear, and blacktail deer. Oak, pine, and fir trees are found throughout the area.
